Description:

The MSc in Health Data Science will train a new generation of world-leading health data scientists with the essential statistical and computing skills needed to become data science specialists in the health care, biopharmaceutical and medical technology sectors. Graduates in this rapidly growing discipline are in extremely high demand from industry due to data-led innovations across the sector.

    Minimum Entry Requirements:

    • Candidates must hold at least a Second-Class Honours Level 8 primary degree in a related subject area. Candidates with degrees from a wide range of areas including healthcare, computing, statistical, mathematical, engineering and business are welcome. Candidates should also have completed at least one introductory statistics module at university level to a satisfactory level. 
    • Those who hold a Level 8 primary degree in a statistical, computational or data science area without honours and have relevant practical experience in the subject area will also be considered.

    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or Pearson Test of English (Academic)

    Official qualifications and third level exam results (transcripts) to date: required for all non-University of Galway applicants and for University of Galway graduates who did not receive their undergraduate degrees from University of Galway. Applicants who have still to graduate must upload an interim transcript (of

    results to date) and upload final transcripts on receipt. 


    English language competency: if necessary, evidence of English language competency.


    Personal statement: all applicants must enclose/upload a typed personal statement of approximately 600 words explaining why you wish to undertake the programme(s) of your choice, outlining how it fits into your career objectives, unless indicated otherwise in the table below.


    Passport or birth certificate:—a copy of your passport or birth certificate must also be submitted/uploaded.


    References: For School of Engineering/School of Computer Science programmes only—unless specifically stated otherwise (in the table below) non-University of Galway applicants only must provide two written references. One must be an academic reference (in the case of applicants currently undertaking studies) OR an employer (in the case of applicants currently in employment).
